  From Billie at Christmas, 2000
Dear Brothers and Friends of Wingspread,

This year has taken us through many a trial of our faith which is exactly what the Lord wanted to do. I was studying my Bible today along with my Commentary and I read, “Persecution is permitted because of its moral values, but it can continue not one moment longer that God has decreed.”

I think of this word, and I look at the condition of the Church today, and I fear it does not resemble the Lord Jesus as was God’s eternal intention. We hear daily that “God never lets a child be killed,” and “God never wants us to be sick, we can all be healed,” and “God never wants anyone to be poor, we are all entitled to prosperity.”

This is a lie - the great lie - that will eventually introduce physically the Anti-Christ who, up until this present time, is merely working behind the scenes preparing those who are ignorant in the faith for the final countdown.

I glance backwards, to that glorious night when the Son of God was born. His Mother was not permitted the luxury of a suite of First class hotel rooms, nor was she given any special consideration for her condition. She had traveled along with her husband Joseph on the back of a little donkey because they were ordered there by the decree of Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be registered, and everyone went to be registered in his own city.

Since Bethlehem was Joseph’s city (a city of David), he and Mary had to go there to register and it was there that she delivered Jesus. The Bible does not dwell upon her circumstances. She would suffer from the day that she was willing to bear this wondrous Child, because of who He was, and how He would be hated. A mother suffers WITH her child.

It is significant that “there was no room for them (Joseph and Mary) at the Inn. The world would never receive Jesus Christ. And there will never be any room for Him in any heart which is not totally committed to His divine will.

But God Almighty took note of Him, and without the world having seen them, the angels appeared unto shepherds by night who were tending their sheep and God put on a magnificent display of His joy at the birth of His only begotten Son.

The Bible tells us, “. . . And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, an angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them; and they were very much afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior who is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel, a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”

Can you imagine how these men felt? When the bible speaks of “an Angel of the Lord” the meaning is usually that the very essence of God’s Being is made manifest. And He actually announced the birth of His Son to those who cared for their sheep.

We have of course turned Christmas into a time of eating and drinking and giving of gifts, usually to those who will give back. But at least we have Christmas and I love this season when for a little while, the hearts of people are changed a bit, and the spirit of giving comes upon the world.

While we were putting up the lights out front, my hope was that people who drive up our highway will see those beautiful lights in the darkness that surrounds us, and for a moment think upon the Lord Jesus, who is the Light of the World. By our remembering His wonderful birth, we present testimony to the reality of His Life, His Love, and His definite return. May each of you reflect that Life, and enjoy this beautiful season.

This was the view from our window just a couple of weeks ago. God gave us that one last “blaze of glory” before the barren ugliness of winter set in.

We have an announcement to make. Dr. Gene Scott or his wife, Pastor Melissa Scott, can now be seen every night except Saturday on the “I” network. The time depends on where you are - 10:00 PM West Coast, 12:00 midnight Central time, and 1:00 AM Eastern. I hope all of you who can will make it a priority to tune in this very valuable teaching, even if by so doing you miss some sleep.

Just before we left California in 1970 Billie Marie climbed up the mountains behind her house. As she looked down over the L.A. basin she prayed that God would raise up a man who could reach all those lost with the Word of God.

Years later when she found Dr. Scott on her big dish she just knew that he was the one she had prayed for. God had answered her prayer. She called him a prophet for this generation. I hear no one else on TV who teaches the true Word.

So let’s all pray that God will use these broadcasts to reach everyone who is looking for an answer, to that need and longing in their heart - the need God already planted there, when He called them and elected them by His grace to be one of His for all eternity.

Rodney and I want to thank everyone who remembered our birthdays. Its good to be remembered and we appreciate you all.

And now its almost Christmas, a happy season of lights and celebrations. But where is God in all this? That little Babe in the manger was the Son of God. The creator of all things humbled Himself and became one of us. It was done in order to fulfill the promise made before the worlds were formed. He had to be born one of us in order to become the Savior. “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

From Brian & Gail

Hi, Everyone. . .

Brian and I wanted to write a few words to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and Healthy and Happy New Year. We put up a few Christmas lights this afternoon, and I started thinking how much our lives have changed over the years. I remember the anticipation of Christmas, when I was younger. It was so exciting. The decorations seemed so beautiful, the Christmas tree, the garlands and the colored lights that were strung outside and inside. And of course, the giving and receiving of gifts was always fun too! But, I must admit, as I have gotten older, it seems like these things have taken on a different meaning. I think of the people who don’t have enough to eat, or don’t have enough money to heat their homes, much less give their children a Christmas. I think of people who don’t have families, and how lonely the holiday must be for them. I wish everyone could and would be able to love God the way that Billie taught us to love Him. It takes away some of the loneliness and hurt that people feel during this season.

We plan on having a quiet Christmas here. Those of us here may get together and have dinner. We have realized, as time has passed by, that the important thing for us is to live each day in anticipation of Jesus’ Coming.

We pray that everyone will have a new understanding of Jesus. He is the reason we all celebrate.

Brian and Gail
